Genelabs is on the threshold of a new era--both for the company and for the discovery of new pharmaceuticals targeting areas of unmet medical need.
Our research efforts are directed toward anti-microbial drug discovery. Utilizing our DNA-binding technology, we have synthesized many lead compounds targeting bacteria and fungi. In our hepatitis C virus (HCV) program, we are using high-throughput methods for the discovery of novel lead compounds that selectively inhibit HCV. These efforts may result in our discovery of compounds that can treat infections caused by bacteria resistant to currently available antibiotics, compounds that could treat serious infections caused by fungal pathogens, and compounds for treating HCV infections, a serious chronic infection of the liver.
Our ground-breaking clinical development program for Prestara™ for systemic lupus erythematosus may result in the approval of the first new pharmaceutical treatment for women with this disease in more than 40 years.
